And boy, did the Israelis catch feelings. That led, of course, to all American media and all American politicians catching feelings. How dare he say that about dark money used to bribe all of us? Oops. Yeah, that's why they're so angry. But, that emotional manipulation didn't work this time. Anna tells about it. >> It didn't work, and it's because when you have moral clarity, you know that you can stick to your guns and not worry about losing the people who support you. And that's exactly what happened in this case. But, Jake, honestly, even though there was backlash, there's a giant giant silver lining to this story. So, just stick around because I'm going to make my case on that in just a moment. But, first, here are the details. So, Mamdani did receive some backlash after he called out AIPAC's undue influence over our government and how they have turned to moving money around, dark money specifically, in order to conceal the fact that the Israel lobby is still, you know, funding certain politicians, boosting certain campaigns. As we all know, there are Democratic voters who are paying close attention to who AIPAC is funding, and if a candidate is taking AIPAC money, they're less likely to get support from Democratic voters, which is why the dark money situation is really ramping up with the Israel lobby, AIPAC being one of one component of the Israel lobby. Now, here's what Mamdani's haters have to say. Then, we'll get to those who are actually defending him because he does have people defending him. So, Rabbi Yaakov Berman, a liaison for the Hasidic Lubavitch Lubavitch Lubavitch uh sect told Politico that he was horrified by Mom No, you're not. >> And who cares if he is? >> horrified by Mondaire Jones' AIPAC outburst, arguing it flies in the face of commitments the mayor made to not engage in rhetoric that could stoke violence. In a sign of New York's New York candidate's growing reluctance to show sympathy for AIPAC, and their fear of alienating voters who despise the pro-Israel lobby, none of the House hopefuls in the three primaries Mamdani has endorsed were willing to criticize the popular mayor's remarks. But he says, yes, they are for genocide, but you're not allowed to call them monsters. In fact, if you accurately point out who they are, then we're going to say you're the monster and you should be canceled and fired and disqualified and eliminated from the national conversation, so there's only Israeli supporters in the national conversation, but that's all a coincidence. >> So, Zoran Mamdani was asked about the backlash he's been facing and something tells me that the reporter who asked this question was maybe hoping or expecting him to maybe walk back some of his statements. Let's see if that happened. Let's take a look. >> What do you say to those who are concerned that the language you used is dangerous? >> Now, I want to be very clear. We're talking about a status quo where children are being killed on a daily basis. More than a thousand Palestinians have been killed by the Israeli military since the so-called ceasefire. And when I am speaking about AIPAC, I'm speaking about an organization that has been supportive of the status quo, that has fought any attempt to actually deliver safety to people not just in Palestine, but frankly, through much of the region. And it is a status quo for immorality. It is one that I will not accept. And when it comes to the way in which they defend the status quo, often times they defend it through direct contributions, as we are seeing right now in New York 13.
